Massage Therapy

Here's what you should expect when you come to The Massage Place:

Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early. After you are greeted by a therapist, you will be asked to fill out the New Client Intake Form. This form will help the massage therapist be aware of any bodily injuries, soreness, and present medical conditions. Then you may sit in our comfortable and calm waiting area, have a cool glass of herb or fruit-infused water, and relax until your appointment time.

At the appointed time, your therapist will first conduct a brief but comprehensive interview to make certain they fully understand your body's needs. You will be given some time to undress and make yourself ready for your massage session. Some clients prefer to be completely unclothed and others choose to leave their undergarments on. Either way is acceptable. We respect your modesty and provide a very safe place to fully relax. Your body will always be completely draped except for the area being worked.

It is very important that at any time during the massage that you communicate with your therapist if the pressure is too soft or too hard. You are here for your body's needs, so be your own advocate! During the massage session you are not expected to have a conversation with your therapist. You are, however, strongly encouraged to simply breathe and relax.

After the massage session, you will be left alone to dress. The Therapist will meet you in the lobby, and will suggest what you can do to help your body accept the massage treatment for a longer period of time. This is also the time to ask questions or state any concerns you may have.

Other things to note:

  • Each treatment room has one massage table, a heated table pad, and clean table sheets.
  • A 1-hour appointment breaks down to 10-minutes of an interview and dressing, and then 60 minutes of hands on time.
  • If you would like to tip the Therapist, clients leave anywhere from $5 to $20. Tips are completely optional and not expected.

We are glad that you including massage as one of your healthcare modalities. Once you've come to see us, you will wonder why you hadn't been in sooner!

To take advantage of our beautiful gardens and bird songs, we offer our clients outdoor massage treatments in our cabanas during warm weather.

Abdominal Massage
(Currently, Lynn Perry is the only practitioner who does this treatment.)
In our culture, our bellies hold so much: many of us stuff our emotions or swallow our fears. There are pressures about the way our bellies look: too big, too little, not enough muscle, too many stretch marks or scars. The belly is the origin of life and so many emotions, which makes it a very vulnerable space. The intent of this session is to bring awareness and clarity to a portion of the body we often neglect or even try to ignore. We can all benefit immensely from this transformative and powerful, yet subtle work. When our bellies are not well, we're not well. The focus is both on the physical and emotional things "stuck" in the belly. Session includes gentle massage of the abdominal organs, muscles and fascia as well as focus on your breath. This treatment creates space and movement throughout your organs and abdominal muscles; improves circulation, absorption and elimination; can relieve thoracic, low back, pelvic and even neck pain; can trigger emotional release, bring awareness to unconscious holding, improve energy flow and relieve areas of stress. A treatment will leave you walking taller, breathing more deeply, feeling renewed and calm with a sense of inner clarity. 30 minutes $45, 60 minutes $65, 90 minutes $90
